However it does boast a wealth of iconic locations and opportunities that, with a festive twist, could transform the city into a must-visit destination during the Christmas season.
Here’s how I reimagine Brisbane as a Christmas wonderland that delights tens of thousands of leisure travellers.
1. South Bank: A Summer Christmas Spectacle
South Bank’s riverside parklands are perfect for a festive transformation. Imagine the bougainvillea-draped arbors illuminated with Christmas lights, creating magical pathways for evening strolls.
The Streets Beach lagoon could host “Christmas by the Beach,” with sand sculptures of Australian-themed holiday scenes, including kangaroos pulling Santa’s sleigh.
Create scenes of Christmas light through the South Bank Parklands to encourage visitors to roam and find each of them, like a treasure hunt.
